Enforced Rest

There comes a time when rest from all activities and endeavours is required.

Having broken two ribs a week or so ago, my consultant who treated my Achilles issue today thought it was brilliant timing.

My CV fitness is taking a hit. I can feel it already. Body fat is on the up and the general level of physical wellbeing is possibly at an all-time low.

That said, it could be a different story. Had I not pulled out of a race, I would probably have caused permanent damage to my tendon and opened a whole can of injury flavoured worms.

Had I not broken my ribs, I doubt that I would have stayed away from exercise for the advised period after my injections.

So despite being in the sporting lull, the glass is half full. I’m giving my body the chance to repair all those little tears and strains and with some daily flexibility work, I’m confident that I can get back to full fitness before the silly season kicks off around Christmas.
