CMPP Community Minds Conference

As Associates of CMPP, Source attended the Community Matters Partnership Project’s (CMPP) most recent conference, Community Minds, last week at the Village Hotel, Farnborough.

Ollie, Sophie and Vin (Source guest from Merlin Chemicals) were part of a gathering of several hundred representatives of local and national businesses, schools and charitable organisations.

Colonel Charlie Lambert, Commander of the Aldershot Garrison was our congenial host who was the glue between a handful of speakers from businesses and local authority who all elaborated on the needs of young people in the local community.

Peter Amies, Head of Community at Rushmoor Borough Council, used some interesting and encouraging statistics about how the lives of young people in the borough are being improved through initiatives with the support of local businesses.

Action is the key

CMPP recognise that there is no point in gathering for three hours to just talk about the problems and instead get real-time pledges of support and initiative there and then.

Pedges from every table.

Pledges from every table.

The main outcome that was born out of 10 tables discussing how schools and businesses can get together to get young people ready for work,  was commitments from schools and businesses to collaborate.

Source Light Bulb Moment

This conference sees lots of brainstorming and ideas are spilling out in each cluster of delegates. The idea that we will roll out at Source is born from the discussion topics centered around getting young people fit for work and prepared for employers. Not just work experience but a more rounded and real life approach.

Watch this space for our exciting initiative!
